Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 14, 2026
Better Tomorrow Films LLC, doing business as Strange Victory Labs ("we", "us", or "our"), operates the AvoCadabra mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and who receives it.
Information We Collect
AvoCadabra has no accounts and no logins. Here is everything that leaves your device, and why.
- When you scan an avocado: From version 1.1.6, the app tells you where your photo goes before your first scan. Each scan sends to our server the photo (and, if you take one, a close-up of the stem), your app language, your answers to the optional "how do you use avocados" questions if you gave them, and the app version. Our server passes the photo, language and answers to our image-analysis provider, OpenAI, to produce your ripeness result. We do not store your photo. OpenAI processes it under its API data terms, which say API data is not used to train its models and may be kept for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring.
- Device check: Each scan also carries a security check: on iPhone, Apple's App Attest key for this app; on Android, a Google Play Integrity token and a random ID created when the app was installed. These let our server confirm the request comes from the genuine app and limit how many scans one device can make. They are not linked to your name, email or any account.
- Analytics: We use Firebase Analytics (Google) to understand how the app is used: screens viewed, scans started and completed, results, and error reasons, along with device model, operating system, an app-instance ID, and approximate location (country, region and city) that Google derives from your IP address. This is product analytics only. It is not linked to your identity, is not used for advertising, and is not shared with advertising networks. From version 1.1.6, the app does not collect your device's advertising ID.
- RevenueCat: The app includes RevenueCat's software, which starts when you open the app, assigns an anonymous app user ID and receives basic device information. AvoCadabra 1.1.6 has no in-app purchases. Where an earlier version offered one, payment was handled by Apple or Google and managed by RevenueCat; we never receive payment details.
- Notifications: Ripeness reminders are scheduled on your device. We do not send push notifications from a server.
What Our Server Keeps
For each scan request our server keeps a record of the time, the app version and platform, a one-way hash of the device check, a fingerprint (hash) of the photo — not the photo itself — and technical details such as the AI model used, processing cost and any error. These records contain no photo and no IP address. We use them to operate the service, prevent abuse, and improve the app. We do not currently delete them on a fixed schedule.
Separately, our web server logs the IP address of each request for security and troubleshooting, and deletes those logs after 14 days.
How We Use Your Information
- To analyze avocado images and provide ripeness predictions
- To confirm requests come from the genuine app and prevent abuse
- To understand how the app is used and improve it
- To send you reminder notifications (only if you enable them)
- To provide customer support
Data Storage
Your scan history stays on your device. Saved scans — the ripeness score, the name you gave the avocado, and the timestamps — are written to your device's local storage and are not uploaded to us. We keep no server-side copy of your scan history.
You can remove your saved scans at any time with "Wipe All Data" in Settings.
Third-Party Services
- OpenAI: image analysis (see above and OpenAI's Privacy Policy).
- Google Firebase Analytics: product analytics (see above).
- Apple App Attest and Google Play Integrity: confirming requests come from the genuine app.
- RevenueCat: in-app purchase software; AvoCadabra 1.1.6 has no purchases (see above).
- Hetzner: hosts our scan server.
We Do Not Sell Your Data
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it with data brokers, and we do not use it for cross-app or cross-site advertising. AvoCadabra contains no advertising SDKs, no attribution or tracking SDKs, and does not ask for permission to track you across other companies' apps and websites.
The third parties listed above process data solely to deliver the features described — image analysis, device checks, purchase software, hosting and product analytics. They are not permitted to sell it.
Children's Privacy
AvoCadabra is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Your Choices and Rights
- Your saved scans live only on your device. "Wipe All Data" in Settings deletes them, or you can uninstall the app.
- The server records described above are not tied to your name, email or any account, and wiping or uninstalling does not remove them. To ask about any data we hold, email [email protected].
- The app does not offer a setting to turn analytics off. Uninstalling the app stops all collection.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
